Esposizione statica all’aperto – Natural Weathering

The static (natural) outdoor exposure method is offered at each of the more than 23 exposure sites available among those continuously monitored or remotely owned by Atlas Material Testing Solutions, under the direct operation of the AWSG group, as well as at affiliated sites.

The choice of exposure method is twofold: direct exposure to light or indirect exposure under glass (e.g., inside dedicated Black-boxes). For direct exposure, the samples will be placed on specific racks and exposed to the local atmospheric conditions at the selected angle (0°, 5°, 45°, 90°, or at the site latitude).

As indicated by standards or required to simulate real-life material conditions, it is also necessary to specify how the sample should be mounted: on a backing or free-standing.

Reference sites

For this type of exposure, the reference sites are those in the USA: SFTS Miami Everglades – Everglades – Florida (Subtropical climate – hot with constant humidity/water) and DSET Phoenix Arizona – Arizona (Desert climate – high irradiance and absence of precipitation).

These sites are often complemented by other locations selected not only on the basis of climatic criteria. This is the case of Hoek van Holland Rotterdam – Rotterdam – NL (Marine corrosion and acid rain – ECCA approved), Sanary-sur-Mer Provence – Bandol – Provence – France (Mediterranean Sea – Wood, Automotive, etc.).

Quotations

As customers increasingly request to complement exposure services with various complementary activities, Atlas Material Testing Solutions has equipped some of its sites with dedicated laboratories, certifying them to ISO 17025.

The price list has been expanded to include the costs of additional services and laboratory evaluations, while maintaining the usual differentiation based on a dimensional classification of the items to be exposed: PANEL, SAMPLE, and 3D. To provide a quotation, it is necessary to complete a specific form and supply detailed information, not just the number of samples.

Please request it at: ATE@urai.it. This will also allow us to indicate any minimum quantity-related costs.

Panels - Samples or Objects

PANEL refers to any flat, rigid object with one side up to 305 mm, easy to fix to racks with mounting points at 152, 229, and 305 mm. Anything that is not a PANEL is considered a SAMPLE, with costs calculated for dimensions up to 305 × 305 mm. Larger dimensions will be treated as full portions. 3D objects follow a special regime.
